Networking Session on Business Opportunities between India and Serbia

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE, with the support of the Embassy of India in Belgrade and in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, organised a Networking Session on Business Opportunities between India and Serbia. The event was held in the office of the Chamber in Belgrade. The networking session was graced by the presence of the honourable Ambassador of India to Serbia – H.E. Ms. Shubhdarshini Tripathi, who emphasised the need for a greater exchange of business between India and Serbia, given the long history of cooperation between the two countries. H.E. Ms. Tripathi also appreciated the presence of several notable Serbian and Indian companies which participated in this event and encouraged them to scale up the business opportunities, looking at India as a huge potential market for Serbian companies and exploring closer collaborations with their Indian counterparts. The honourable Ambassador also suggested that networking session like these should be organised more frequently. We are thankful to Mr. Sandeep Kumar – Counsellor, Ms. Rini Daniel – Attache (Commerce) and Mr. Lazar Jovic – Marketing Officer from the Indian Embassy in Belgrade without whose support, this event would not have been possible. We would also like to thank Mr. Matija Milićević, Independent Advisor, who represented the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia at the session and for the active support of the Chamber for inviting Serbian companies to the session. The senior executives of the participating companies shared that this event provided them the opportunity to know more about the business potential that exists between India and Serbia. The networking session concluded with refreshments with the promise of organising more such sessions promoting bilateral business relations in the coming months.

Seminar on Opportunities in Processed Food Industry in India

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE, with the support of the Embassy of India, Belgrade and in association with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Serbia, organised a seminar on the Opportunities in the Processed Food Industry in India, showcasing World Food India 2024 being organised from 19th to 22nd September 2024 in New Delhi. The seminar was attended by leading companies from the processed food and agriculture industry in Serbia as well as senior officials of the Embassy of India, Belgrade led by Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Counsellor / HOC, who presented the opening remarks about India’s potential in the processed food industry and the opportunity for Serbian companies to tap into the same.A few companies showed interest in participating in World Food India 2024 (WFI) and the Chamber would coordinate with the organisers of WFI to facilitate the same.

Employing Indian Workers – Opportunities, Challenges & Legal Framework.

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, with the support of the Embassy of India in Belgrade and in association with the Serbian Association of Employers, organised a Conference on the topic – Employing Indian Workers – Opportunities, Challenges & Legal Framework. The Conference was attended by Mr. Sandeep Kumar – the honourable Counsellor and HOC at the Embassy of India, Belgrade; Mr. Zoran Martinović – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs; Ms. Sanja Gavranović – Senior adviser at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs responsible for the implementation of the Law on the Employment of Foreigners; Mr. Milan Bosnić – Director, National Employment Service, and Mr. Miloš Jovanović – the Representative of the Union of Employers of Montenegro.  Mr. Andreja Brkić – President and Mr. Srdjan Drobnjaković – Director, Serbian Association of Employers moderated the session, which was attended by several companies from Serbia. The legal framework was deliberated upon by Advocates – Mr. Nemanja Andjelković and Mrs. Biljana Andjelković who highlighted the challenges faced while hiring workers from India. Mr. Sandeep Kumar from the Embassy of India also shared his experiences about the issues faced by Indian workers in Serbia while commending the excellent and timely support provided by the Government of Serbia to resolve such issues. The Serbian government officials acknowledged the same and updated the audience about measures being taken to improve the process which has been overhauled in February 2024, and assured all help to further streamline the hiring process. Mr. Goran Alkesić – Vice President, INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE, summarised the session’s deliberations and presented the vote of thanks to the esteemed participants.

International Day of Yoga in Dunavski Park, Novi Sad

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE hosted the International Day of Yoga in Dunavski Park, Novi Sad on 21st June 2024.Over 20 yoga enthusiasts attended the event to create awareness about yoga. Several park goers also witnessed the yoga session with curious interest.The following Serbian yoga experts conducted the yoga session, focusing on Ashtanga Yoga:Ms. Sanja StojsinSanja currently teaches in Novi Sad at Sun Yoga Center. Her yoga journey began in late 2015 and in 2016, she began practicing Ashtanga yoga in Belgrade under the guidance of authorized Level 2 Ashtanga yoga teacher Ranko Vairagya Stoiljković. In 2018, Sanja went to the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysuru, India, where she practiced under the guidance of Sri R. Sharath Jois.—————————–Mr. Vladimir TerzinVladimir is a certified fitness trainer third category and has spent over 15 years in the world of martial arts and holds a master degree in Taekwondo. Vladimir has found a complete approach in Ashtanga Yoga in the tradition of Patthabi Jois and Sharath Jois having devoted the last years to this style of yoga.

International Agricultural Fair

In association with the EMBASSY of INDIA in Belgrade, the INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE participated in the 91st INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL FAIR in Novi Sad from 18th May till 23rd May 2024. Hon. Counsellor Commercial from the Embassy – Mr. Sandeep Kumar, graced the occasion with his presence and participated in B2B meetings.The focus has been to promote India’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, aimed at fostering balanced regional development across all districts of India.B2B meetings have been organised between Serbian and Indian companies to explore Import-Export opportunities. A leading, global Indian agriculture equipment company – Shaktiman is also present at the Fair to showcase their products.

Memorandum of Understanding with ASSOCHAM

INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE is proud to announce that we have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ASSOCIATED CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF INDIA (ASSOCHAM) for the purpose of promoting the development of trade and business relations between India and Serbia. ASSOCHAM is India’s oldest apex chamber, established over 100 years ago. It brings in actionable insights to strengthen the Indian ecosystem, leveraging its network of more than 4,50,000 members, of which MSMEs represent a large segment. With a strong presence in states, and key cities globally, ASSOCHAM also has more than 400 associations, federations and regional chambers in its fold. INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE will work closely with ASSOCHAM to boost business quantum and relations between India and Serbia.

 Belgrade Trade Fair – SEEBBE 2024.

Under the aegis of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), 34 Indian companies participated in the prestigious business event – 47th International Belgrade Trade Fair – SEEBBE 2024, from 22-25 April 2024 at Sajam, Belgrade. INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE participated in the event and had engaging discussions together with the Hon. Ambassador Ms. Shubhdarshini Tripathi and Mr. Vineet Arora, Dy. Director, FIEO about how to increase the participations of Indian companies in various fairs in Serbia to improve bilateral business engagements. FIEO and INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE agreed to follow up on the Hon. Ambassador’s advice and would work on ways to increase cross-border business promotion activities between India and Serbia.

Meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE had a meeting with Mr. Milan Stojanov, Advisor for international economic relations, interregional cooperation and project activities, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF VOJVODINA, and discussed about the upcoming 91st International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad and the possibility of an Indian representation at the Fair. Also discussed were topics about import and export of various agricultural, horticultural and processed food products between India and Serbia. Of particular interest were fruits like Mango, Raspberry and Banana, besides non-fruit products like Basmati rice, and spices from India.

Meeting with the company – TELEOPTIK-GYROSCOPES

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE met the Serbian company – TELEOPTIK-GYROSCOPES, a leading company focused on development of avionics and optoelectronics. The meeting with Mr. Zoran Jarić, Acting Director and Dr. Dragan Vuksanović, Director of the Center for the Development fo New Technologies disucssed possible cooperation with Indian companies to bring high TELEOPTIK’s latest technology products to India.

Meeting with The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia

The INDIAN-SERBIAN CHAMBER OF BUSINESS & COMMERCE had a meeting with Ms. Ivana Bajić – Senior Advisor at the CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF SERBIA, together with the officials from the Embassy of India in Belgrade – Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Cousellor Commercial; Ms. Rini Daniel, Attache (Pol & Commerce) and Mr. Lazar Jovic, Economic Assistant.   The meeting explored areas of cooperation between the two Chambers to promote business between India and Serbia. Ways of boosting trading of various products of interest were discussed and a follow-up meeting to discuss these in more detail is planned in the coming weeks. The meeting concluded with an authentic Indian lunch – graciously hosted by the Embassy of India, giving our guests from Serbia a taste of delectable Indian cuisine and flavours.
